Australia has qualified to contest two Divisions at the 2012 London Olympic Games (M58 & F67) – details regarding Nominations to the AOC will be announced shortly.

The TNZ Open is held each year in Auckland, New Zealand.
Players in both Poomsae and Kyorugi (sparring) travel from all over New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific to take part.

In 2011, over 400 competitors took part in 2 days of competition.
In 2012, the TNZ Open will be held in the Avondale College Sports Stadium.

The event will be a two day tournament, with Black Belt events held on Saturday the 17th and Coloured Belt events on Sunday the 18th of March.

In 2011 we had 50 Poomsae and 300 Kyorugi competitors. For 2012 we are anticipating over 100 Poomsae and 400 Kyorugi competitors.

Sports Taekwondo Queensland is hosting the Caboolture Open on March 10 to 11 2012.

Hyung Jin Park will conduct sports sparring and technical sessions for all National Team athletes from their time of selection to time of competition.

Club and Satellite Coaches/Instructors are invited to integrate their programming with the National Trainers and play an active role during the specialised training sessions.

Club and Satellite Coaches/Instructors are able to request specific types of training session for their athletes providing adequate notice is given.

Athletes/coaches who wish to attend should:

• Be a current STA National Team member (Junior or Senior)
• Be a bonafide member of an STA registered club
• Provide 3 days notice prior to the training session via email to info@sta.asn.au – a reply will be provided to ensure the session will go ahead.
• Bring full training equipment including 1 * kicking mitt, 1 * Hogu and full sparring wear.
• Daedo Electronic Scoring Systems are available for usage at these sessions.

Hyung Jin Park (National Sparring Trainer) is an ex World Champion and Korean National Team member who has a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and a Post Graduate Degree in Sports Management.

Sparring Training will take place during the following times:

• Wednesday 17:00 – 19:00
• Friday 18:00 – 20:00
• Saturday 14:00 – 16:00

Training will be conducted at Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus – Building L, Level 4. (see http://vutaekwondo.com/location.php)

Training days commence as of February 13th 2012.
